Virtual Photography Lessons – Worldwide Photography Courses

Through the use of a virtual classroom we are now able to offer a number of virtual photography lessons.  All virtual photography lessons are taught by Steve McLaren.

 

Virtual Photography Lessons

Virtual photography lessons are a fantastic way to learn photography. Virtual photography lessons allow you to study photography from the convenience of your own computer, and from anywhere in the world.  Our virtual photography lessons will be run on a one to one basis and will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding your DSLR camera manual.  Together we can work through your camera’s manual, and you will receive a thorough explanation of all of the different functions and examples shown in your DSLR camera manual. Please note, that if you are an international photography student, the courses and camera manual will be in English.
  • Your DSLR camera functions. We can discuss and look at all of the functions on your camera and what the different buttons and menus are used for.
  • Review and Critique your images.  We can review and critique your images and discuss the settings that you used, and the compositional rules that have made up the images.
  • Learn Adobe Elements.  You can learn Adobe elements, Adobe elements Premier.
  • Image Development. Learn how to develop your RAW images on your computer.
  • Photography mentoring. We can offer guidance and coaching over whatever time period you feel you need.
  • Advice on purchasing of photographic equipment. If you are thinking of buying new photographic equipment, we can discuss and review photographic equipment for sale on the internet, ranging from cameras to rucksacks and more.  This ensures you get the very best professional advice for your particular photographic needs.

Virtual Photography Lessons – how to arrange and pay

  • If you feel that one of the above subjects is something you need help with, please contact us to arrange a convenient time for your virtual photography lesson.
  • We will agree on how much time will be required for your virtual photography lesson.
  • A paypal invoice will be sent to you.
  • A link will be emailed to you for the agreed start time of your virtual photography lesson.
  • Photography Cards:  You can buy any of the following photography cards from our website.  They contain an hour’s virtual tuition on the following subjects, along with specific exercises for you to complete.
    1. A/AV
    2. S/TV
    3. ISO
    4. WHITE BALANCE
    5. METERING
    6. FOCAL POINTS
    7. EXPOSURE COMPENSATION.

Beginners Photography Courses

Through the use of virtual photography lessons we can now offer our Beginners Part One Photography Course and Beginners Part Two Photography Course and all of our specific camera courses through this medium.  The cost will be £125 for 5 hours of virtual photography lessons. These would be split into one hour slots, with lessons for you to go out and take images, which you would then email to us for review and critique and your next session.

Your computer will need to be of the following specifications to be able to use virtual photography lessons:

NOTE

Our virtual photography lessons will not work on non Flash tablets or mobile devices. But can be viewed by Andriod, iOS, or any other mobile device. For best resusts a laptop or a desktop should be used for your chosen virtual photography lessons.

You will need an internet connection with a  download speed of 5 Mbps and an upload speed of 5 Mbps or above.

If you are not sure what the download or upload speed of your laptop or desktop is, you can go to: http://www.speedtest.net if you find your download or upload speed is 5 Mbps or less, you should NOT attempt to participate in our virtual photography lessons.

Software Requirements

You will need an adobe flash player: version 11.x or higher.  If you do not have this version or higher, again it is recommended that you do NOT participate in our virtual photography lessons.

Operating Systems

If you have a PC, you will need Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7.  If you have a Mac, you will need OSX 10.7 and higher to participate in our virtual photography lessons.

Browsers

You will need Internet Explorer 7.0 and higher, Firefox 3.6 and higher, or Safari 5.0 and higher.  Please note that Google Chrome is not supported for virtual photography lessons.

Hardware

You will need a webcam and a microphone and whatever relevant software is needed to operate your webcam and microphone to participate in our virtual photography lessons.

Computer

You will need a processor(s) or 2.0 GHz or higher, memory system of 1 GB RAM, a graphics memory of 256 MB.

Screen Sharing Technical Requirements

You will need a screen sharing application: Windows 7, or Microsoft.net Framework 4.

Screen sharing on non Windows devices – you will need Java Runtime Environment 1.5 or higher.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE YOUR COMPUTER CAN JOIN THE VIRTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY LESSON THAT YOU HAVE PAID FOR.  WE CANNOT AND ARE UNABLE TO OFFER YOU IT ADVICE OR SUPPORT ON THE DAY IF YOU HAVE LOGIN ISSUES WITH YOUR VIRTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY LESSONS BECAUSE YOUR COMPUTER IS OF A LOWER SPEC THAN LISTED ABOVE.
